Conures

Petey McSweet is our Sun Conure.  Born in 1999, "he" is 9 years old.  We don't really know Petey's gender, as we've never had "him" DNA'd.  We do know that he was once part of a bonded pair who was turned over to a bird store, who sold the two birds separately.  We met Petey after his buddy had already been sold.  Since Petey was choosy about his friends (a kinda cranky, nippy fellow), and I was one of the few people he didn't bite, he came home with us.

Petey is a typical conure--feisty, screechy and fun.  Like all of our birds, he's fully flighted, and on the few occasions he actually chooses to fly, he's a fast-moving little rocket of a bird!  Petey fears nothing and no one, and so we have to watch him closely, in case he wants to take on one of the big guys.  As he is fearless, he doesn't seem to realize that he can't just bully the macaws, so we have to keep him safe.  Someday, I'd like to find another buddy of a similar size for Petey--a Sun, Jenday or Nanday Conrue would be perfect.  We really love this colorful, spicy little guy, and I bet you will, too.  You can see his photos, HERE.

Mango is our Jenday Conure, born in sometime in 2004 or 2005.  We don't really know Mango's gender, as we've never had "him" DNA'd, although the people who gave him to us were told by the rescue organization they got him from that he is a male. Someday, maybe we'll find out for sure :-). Mango was brought here as a friend for Petey, who was lonely being the only small bird in the house. It has worked out well, and they are close friends. Mango also loves my husband to distraction, although he despises me. This feisty, noisy little guy has added spice and fun to our lives, and contentment to Petey's. You can see photos of Mango, HERE.
